The Fire TV Stick is one of the most popular devices for IPTV, and for good reason. It is inexpensive, it plugs into any HDMI port, and it runs the same Android-based player apps that people use on Android TV boxes. The catch is that most IPTV players are not listed in the Amazon Appstore, so any IPTV setup Firestick guide has to cover one extra step: installing the player app yourself. That step is called sideloading, and it is less intimidating than it sounds.
This guide takes you from a fresh Fire TV Stick to a working channel list with a program guide, using Downloader to install the player and TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro to play your subscription.
IPTV setup Firestick checklist: before you start
Have these ready before you pick up the remote.
- Your three login details. Most player apps ask for a username, a password and a server URL. Together these are called an Xtream Codes login. Some apps take a single M3U playlist link instead. With IPTVOID, the details arrive by email after you order or request a trial. Use the most recent email, because server addresses can change.
- An EPG URL, if one was supplied. The EPG (electronic program guide) is a separate feed from the video, so some apps need its address entered on its own.
- A solid internet connection. One HD stream typically needs about 5 to 8 Mbps, Full HD about 8 to 12 Mbps and 4K about 25 Mbps or more, with headroom for other devices. If the stick is far from the router, use 5 GHz Wi-Fi or an Ethernet adapter.
Two things trip people up at this stage of an IPTV setup Firestick job. First, the IPTV username is usually not your email address, and the IPTV password is not your website or Amazon password. Second, you can install the app on more than one device, but a standard subscription plays on only one device at a time. The 24-hour free trial gives you a real login to practice with, no credit card needed.
Step 1: Install Downloader and allow it to install apps
Downloader, made by AFTVnews, is a free app in the Amazon Appstore that fetches a file from a web address and installs it. It is the standard sideloading tool on Fire TV, and the IPTVOID setup guide uses the same route.
- From the Fire TV home screen, open Find and choose Search.
- Type
Downloaderand select the orange Downloader app by AFTVnews in the results. - Select Get or Download and wait for it to install.
- Go to Settings, then My Fire TV, then Developer Options.
- Select Install Unknown Apps and turn it On for Downloader. On older Fire OS versions this is a single switch called Apps from Unknown Sources; turn that on instead.
- If Developer Options is missing, go to My Fire TV, then About, highlight the device name and press the select button seven times. Developer Options then appears one screen back.
Some newer Fire TV devices run Vega OS instead of Fire OS, and sideloading works differently there. If your Settings menu does not match the steps above and the seven taps do nothing, check Amazon’s documentation for your model.
Step 2: Install TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro
Both apps are made by independent developers, not by IPTVOID, and both work with the same login details. TiviMate is the usual choice on Fire TV because its guide is built around a remote; IPTV Smarters Pro suits people who already use it on a phone.
Installing TiviMate with Downloader
- Open Downloader. The first time it runs, allow it to access files and storage when asked.
- Select the address box on the Home tab and type
272483. This is TiviMate’s Downloader code; the full addresstivimate.com/apkalso works. - Select Go. Downloader fetches the installer and opens the Fire TV install screen.
- Select Install. When it finishes, choose Open to launch TiviMate, or Done to return to Downloader.
- Back in Downloader, select Delete when it offers to remove the installer file; it is no longer needed.
TiviMate is free with a single playlist; the paid Premium upgrade adds extras such as multiple playlists and recording, and that fee goes to the developer, not to IPTVOID.
Installing IPTV Smarters Pro instead
IPTV Smarters Pro is not in the Amazon Appstore either, so the process is the same: open Downloader, enter the Android download address from the developer’s site at smarterspro.com, select Go, then Install. Never take an installer address from a forum post; an installer from an unknown source is a security risk.
Step 3: Add your playlist and log in
This is the part of the IPTV setup Firestick process where your login details go in. The screens differ a little between apps, but the information is identical.
Adding an Xtream Codes login in TiviMate
- Open TiviMate. On the welcome screen, select Add playlist.
- Choose Xtream Codes as the playlist type.
- Enter the server URL exactly as written in your activation email, including
http://orhttps://and any port number after the colon. - Enter your username and password, then select Next.
- Name the playlist if asked, keep the defaults, and finish. TiviMate downloads the channel list and then the guide, which can take a minute or two with a large list.
In IPTV Smarters Pro the equivalent screen is Login with Xtream Codes API, which asks for the same three details plus a profile name.
Adding an M3U link instead
If you were given one long playlist link instead, choose M3U playlist as the type (in IPTV Smarters Pro, look for Load your playlist or file/URL) and paste the whole link, including everything after the question mark. The link contains your username and password; the series post on M3U playlists explains what else is inside one.
Adding the EPG URL
With an Xtream Codes login, most apps fetch the guide automatically. If your channels show but the guide is empty, look for an EPG or TV guide section in the app’s settings, paste the EPG URL from your email, and then look for an option to update the guide.
After setup: two settings worth a minute
Your IPTV setup Firestick work is mostly done at this point. Two small changes make daily use better.
- Turn Downloader’s install permission off again. Go back to Settings, My Fire TV, Developer Options, Install Unknown Apps and switch Downloader to Off. You only need it on while installing. Turn it back on whenever you update the player.
- Build a favorites group. Both apps let you mark favorites and hide groups you never watch, which beats scrolling through thousands of channels every evening.
IPTV setup Firestick problems and how to fix them
Work through these in order before contacting support.
- Downloader cannot download the file. Check the code or address for typos and confirm the stick is online by opening another streaming app. If it still fails, try the full address instead of the short code.
- Install fails or the button is greyed out. Install Unknown Apps is not on for Downloader. Go back to Step 1.
- The app says the login is invalid or the server is unreachable. Re-enter the three details with care. Confirm you are using the server URL from the newest email, that the trial or subscription has not expired, and that nobody else is streaming on the same account at the same time.
- Channels appear but nothing plays. Try a different channel. If every channel fails, restart the stick under Settings, My Fire TV, Restart. If you get sound with a black screen, look for the decoder option in the app’s playback settings and switch from hardware to software.
- Playback keeps buffering. Move closer to the router, switch to 5 GHz Wi-Fi, or use an Ethernet adapter. Buffering during big live events is often server load or local Wi-Fi congestion, so test at a quieter time before blaming the stick.
If none of that helps, IPTV Not Working? A Step-by-Step Troubleshooting Guide is the next stop, and IPTVOID support answers by WhatsApp and email 24/7; a photo of the error message speeds things up.
Frequently asked questions
Is the setup the same on a Fire TV Cube or a 4K Max stick?
Yes. The IPTV setup Firestick steps above work on any device that runs Fire OS, because the menus match and the Downloader route is identical. The exception is newer hardware on Vega OS, where sideloading differs, so check your model before you start.
Can I use the same login on my Firestick and my Android TV box?
You can set it up on both, but a standard subscription streams on only one device at a time. The steps on an Android TV box are nearly identical, minus Downloader when the app is in Google Play; see How to Set Up IPTV on Android TV and Google TV.
Which is better on Fire TV, TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro?
TiviMate is tuned for a remote and has the better guide layout, which is why the IPTVOID setup guide recommends it on Fire TV. IPTV Smarters Pro is easier if you already know it from a phone; both play the same streams.
The bottom line on IPTV setup on a Firestick
A full IPTV setup Firestick run takes about fifteen minutes, and the Downloader step only has to be done once. Keep your three login details within reach, type the server URL carefully, and switch Downloader’s install permission off when you are finished.
To see how a service behaves on your own stick and Wi-Fi before paying, request the IPTVOID 24-hour free trial and run through these steps with a real login. A long channel list alone does not tell you how a service will work for you; a test on your own device does.
